Coming on the heels of Benny Hinn
is another celebrity televangelist. Dr. Creflo A. Dollar will hold a
crusade at the Nelson Mandela Stadium in Namboole on Wednesday
starting 7p.m.
Dollar is an internationally acclaimed preacher, founder and senior
pastor of the 30,000 members World Changers Church International in
the US. He has been an evangelist for over 25 years and is the
publisher of Change, a magazine with over 100,000 subscribers. His
Changing Your World broadcast reaches one billion homes globally.
Dollar arrives tomorrow and will be here to teaching principles of
success that are not only Biblical but have worked in his life.
Although Dollar is expected to preach in the evening, gates will be
open from 9a.m.
There will be 500 commuter taxis from the city centre to the venue
with the fare costing Shs1, 000. The event will have a 1000-voice
choir, an awesome sound and lighting system and 10, 000 ushers to
help people out.
Dollar's brief will not be to perform miracles but help break the
yoke of poverty. After the Namboole do, Dollar will meet pastors and
religious leaders on Thursday June 14 at Miracle Centre Cathedral,
Rubaga between 10a.m. and 12p.m. His wife Taffi will then speak in
the afternoon from 2p.m. to 4p.m.
Dollar and his wife will then be hosted to a dinner targeting
corporate and businessmen at Serena Hotel Gardens at 7pm. He has not
come cheap though. His visit has come at a cost of Ushs700m.

Meet Dollar, the prosperity pastor
By Esther Namugoji
BARELY a month after the exciting Benny Hinn crusades, Ugandans are
already warming up for another American preacher. Dr. Creflo Dollar
will be in Uganda on June 13, 2007 also at Mandela National stadium,
Namboole.
While Hinn ministered with a miraculous healing anointing, Dollar is
expected to deliver teaching on prosperity. Famous pianist Adlan
Cruz and singer Lionel Petersen will also minister alongside various
Miracle Centre choirs.
According to Pastor Arthur Nsamba of Rubaga Miracle Centre, Creflo
Dollar will be teaching Christians principles on how to sustain
wealth.
“This is a meeting to destroy the spirit of poverty. It is good to
be healed but it is another thing if you cannot pay your bills,”
Nsamba reasons, adding that having money does not necessarily mean
one is rich. ‘There are those who have money and 10 years later they
are broke. Their businesses go under because they lack a firm
business foundation of honesty and integrity. People are looking for
njawulo (profit) and not a relationship.”
Dr. Creflo Dollar’s emphasis on what has been called the prosperity
gospel has made him the object of criticism in some circles, but
that has not stopped him from preaching it and living what he
preaches.
In addition to the preaching ministry, Dollar is also a best-selling
author and enterprising businessman said to be worth over $1b. The
Dollars own many private jets for hire in addition to heading Arrow
Records, a successful music recording company.
“Some have a problem with people getting rich but such people want
to control poor people. This is a message on making wealth that is
not based on politics, but on the word of God. The anointing breaks
the yoke. The Bible says it is God who gives us the power to make
wealth. It is time for people to be taught the word of God; for
curses to be broken,” Pastor Nsamba says.
Unlike at the Hinn crusades when taxi fares from Namboole were
hiked, this time UTODA is designating 500 taxis which will have
stickers identifying them at an affordable price.
Besides the crusade, there is a corporate and businessmen’s dinner
to be held at the Serena Hotel on the 14th. Dinner cards are
available at the Serena Hotel for $100 per person or sh1m for a
table of eight. A team of American businessmen will be sharing
wealth-creating tips and it will be an opportunity to network.
Dollar will also speak exclusively to pastors and leaders at Rubaga
Miracle Centre and at a private government meeting at Munyonyo.
Creflo Dollar is the founder of Christian World Changers Ministries
based in College Park, Georgia and pastors the 30,000 member World
Changers Church International. Dollar’s preaching is broadcast
through a popular television program called Changing Your World that
reaches one billion people worldwide.
The ministry also publishes Change Magazine, and The Max, a
bimonthly resource newsletter for ministers. He is a much-sought
after conference and inspirational speaker who has mentored many
young people. Born in 1962, Dollar has a bachelor’s degree in
education, a master’s degree in counselling, and a doctorate in
counselling from the University of West Georgia. Dollar received an
honorary Doctor of Divinity from Oral Roberts University in 1998. He
is married to Taffi and they have five children.
